To conclude Glaciar Martial Sunset, after an unforgettable experience, we will end the night by enjoying something hot or a craft beer within the forest, always accompanied by the unique sound of the river flowing from the glacier.
Glaciar Martial is an emblem of Ushuaia. It is located within the Natural Protected Area of the same name, just 7 kilometers from the center, and offers all kinds of activities to enjoy nature: in winter, alpine skiing and snowboarding are favorites, and in summer, it stands out as one of the most accessible places for hiking. Additionally, you will find gastronomic establishments open year-round.
The Martial Glacier is a cirque glacier due to its shape resembling an amphitheater or semicircle. It is located at an altitude of about 1000 meters above sea level, and its name comes from the commander of the French scientific expedition of 1882-1883, Louis Ferdinand Martial. Currently, it is a glacial remnant, meaning remains of a much larger ancient glacier. From there, the Buena Esperanza stream originates, which is a significant source of drinking water for the city.
